I have been wondering this for a while now. Is a beauty guru a beauty guru because they are a beautiful person?
Now, let me say this first and foremost, I am not going to be belittling what anyone does or questioning how they do it. I just want to know what makes a beauty guru a beauty guru. What gives them the right to be called such.
Most people believe that all they do is put makeup on their face and give you instructions/tutorials on how to do the same. Now, I am not saying that is all they do, but at the same time, that is what they are known for.
I can go through the videos of the top beauty gurus on YouTube, and several of them are the same thing. And, I don’t mean their content, that is a whole different blog post.
What I mean is, the video types are all the same. They include tutorials, GRWM, testing new *blank*, monthly favorites, etc. No true differences. Unless you count their personalities, but can you.
Some YouTubers personalities are fake or a face made just for YouTube. It is not their everyday face. Or, how they truly act. So, basically, it could be counted as another thing Youtubers do for YouTube.
So, the question still remains, what makes a beauty guru a beauty guru? Why do we spend hours watching them? And, why do we run out to buy every product they recommend? But, most importantly, should all YouTubers who deal with the beauty community be called a beauty guru or a beauty/makeup enthusiast?
Let me know in the comment section below what you think.
