If you don’t know Ipsy is a $10 a month subscription service, created by Michelle Phan. Each month you will receive a different lovely glam bag and four to five deluxe or sample size (maybe even a full-size) products. Curated to you, by a beauty quiz you take.
For the month of January, I received the full size of the SL Miss Glam L34 Blend Beauty Brush and the Manna Kadar Paradise Blush, and sample sizes of the Temptu Base Smooth & Matte Primer, Star Crushed Minerals Metallic Shadow in Aged To Perfection Champagne, and Clarisea Sea Salt Solutions Instant Glow Powder Exfoliator.
SL Miss Glam L34 Blend Beauty Brush – No boring brushes here! Of course, we totally love the purple handle (side note: it’s not only pretty but much easier to find in an overcrowded makeup bag). The ombré bristles are made of a super soft synthetic material, and the shape is ideal for applying color either just in the crease or all over your lid.
First of all, this brush is so adorable. I love the colors and little studs. And, not only is it pretty, it actually works. Thank you for that. It actually blends out my eyeshadow like a dream. I have used it just as a blending brush with no product on it and also with the product on it. Both ways the brush was able to blend the shadow to my desire effect.
Manna Kadar Paradise Blush – The warm pink with apricot undertones brightens up pale complexions, but also pops on darker skin…no small feat in the blush world. But even more so than the color, we can’t get enough of the radiant finish that’s just shimmery enough without looking crazy glittery.
For my monthly subscription box look, I ended up using this as both an eyeshadow and a blush. And, I love how it turned out. It showed up even with my skin tone. Great pigmentation. The color is absolutely stunning. Last a fairly long time for me.
Temptu Base Smooth & Matte Primer – We can admittedly get a little Goldilocks-esque when it comes to primer—finding them either too heavy or too greasy. But this one is just right, leaving our skin feeling silky smooth—without any residue—and definitely upping the staying power of our makeup. One swipe also tamps down shine and totally minimizes the look of any prominent pores.
Need more! I am glad I got a sample of this because it made the base for my foundation so smooth and the foundation easy to go on. And, my pores just looked like they vanished from existence. I cannot really speak to the matte side of things because I have dry skin, so I don’t shine unless it is from my highlight. However, the staying power of this primer if phenomenal, my foundation lasts a full 9 hours before I decided to take it off and go to sleep. Definitely going to buy.
Star Crushed Minerals Metallic Shadow in Aged To Perfection Champagne – Finely-milled (by hand, at that) pigments give this powder a crazy velvety texture. The neutral metallic hue is subdued enough for everyday, but works just as well for the evening, and doubles as a liner too for a glimmery eye look that we can’t get enough of.
Not one for champagne type colors, but this one is quite beautiful with a hint of gold reflects in all its metallic-y goodness. Definitely, have to use some type of mixing medium, or it will just disappear within 5 minutes, however, with fix + it something it last fairly long. Not a color I would buy for myself, but I am happy to have it.
Clarisea Instant Glow Lavender Powder Exfoliant – It may look like what’s in your salt shaker, but this scrub is anything but. Powdered salt (two kinds, from the Pacific and Himalayan pink sea salt) knocks out breakouts, while almond flour brightens skin. There’s also lavender flower powder that buffs away dead cells and calms skin, so you never get red or irritated.
Not bad. It has just enough scrub powder to do what it’s supposed to do. I just wish that you didn’t have to add in a cleanser.
Is this month’s bag with the price? Yes, I believe so. I got to try out a lot of great products this month and I have found some products I know I will be buying full sizes of. Some of these brands I haven’t even heard of before, and they probably would have still remained a mystery to me, if I did not receive them this month. For instance, I may have heard of Temptu, but I did not know they made primer and now I’m in love with their primer. Or, Star Crushed Minerals, I haven’t even heard of the brand before and the eyeshadow shade I may have received may not have been the type of shade I would buy, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it is stunningly beautiful and will made. Not to mention the SL Miss Glam Brush or the Manna Kadar Blush. This month’s bag was well worth the price and makes me anxious to see what’s going to be inside the next one.
